Slocan City is located at the southern tip of Slocan Lake and is the gateway to Valhalla provincial park. Population of 357.
Silverton a quiet little village on the shores of Slocan Lake. Silverton boasts of many arts and recreation opportunities. With a population 185 is the smallest municipality in BC.
New Denver the largest of our communities is 5 KM north of Silverton and is the business hub of our area. New Denver offers banking, a hospital, government liquor store, gas station, post office and a variety of retail businesses.

50 km to the north lies The Village of Nakusp featuring  Nakusp and Halcyon hot springs. The annual Nakusp Music Feastival is a highlight of the summer. 50 km to the west is Kaslo located on pictureque Kootenay Lake and is home to the SS Moyie a historical paddle wheeler.

South are the major centers of Nelson, Castlegar and Trail.

Spring

Spring Flowers Idaho Peak

Spring is in the air. The many varities of birds are returning and the spring flowers will soon be exploding around us. Time once again to enjoy the pristine enviroment of Slocan Lake and its many activities.

If you like to volunteer in the community many groups appreciate help to ready the many trails after winter. If gardening is your forte then help out with the Kohan or other community gardens.

Just want to get out and enjoy the fresh spring air? Fishing in Slocan Lake is at its best in the spring or get out on the links and have a few rounds at the Slocan Lake Golf Course. Cycle or hike the local trails.

June marks the start of New Denver’s Friday Market, the place to be Fridays June through September. Let’s not forget New Denver May Days.

Slocan Lake is 50km of natural beauty and pristine waters. Bordered by Valhalla Provincial Park on the East and Highway 6 on the West where the communities of Slocan City,  Silverton and New Denver are located. The area offers quiet serene surroundings void of big city hussel and bustle.

The area features a rich history and one can spend endless days exploring.

Activities abound in our communities. The arts offer plays, concerts, choirs, and gallery showings year round. Artisans hold craft fairs and outdoor markets throughout the area. Farmers markets are popular in the summer months.

If recreation is your cup of tea; golf, camping, fishing, swimming, diving, hiking, mountain biking, paragliding,sking,snow boarding and snow mobiling are just a few of the adventures in the area.

Special events crowd the schedule year round with dances, celebrations, and festivals.
